Happy chickens make happy eggs. How do we know this?
Well, chickens that do not get to roam freely, feel fresh air, see sunlight, or are fed poor quality feed are more stressed. Just as you would feel if you were couped up, chickens produce more of the stress hormone, cortisol, which then ends up in their eggs.
How do you know if the eggs you are eating came from stressed out chickens?
There are many signs on the egg carton to look out for. The Humane Society breaks it down for us.

However you choose to use your eggs, whether it’s to cook them or use them in a face mask, sourcing eggs that are free from added chemicals are best for your body and skin, and most of all best for the hens who provide them.
